Dehydrated skin can feel tight, look dull and show fine surface lines even when it also becomes oily. The routine goal is to add water and reduce unnecessary stripping.

Dehydrated is not the same as dry

Dry skin refers to lower oil production; dehydration refers to water. You can have both, or oily-but-dehydrated skin.

Cleanse without chasing a squeaky feel

A gentle cleanser is enough for most mornings and evenings. Harsh scrubbing can make tightness worse.

Add one lightweight hydration step

A hydrating toner or essence can be useful because it adds water without a heavy film. If one layer works, there is no requirement to use three.

Seal with moisturizer

Choose texture by skin type. Dry skin may want cream; oily dehydrated skin may prefer gel-cream or lotion.

Use sunscreen every morning

Choose a finish you can tolerate daily. A dewy sunscreen can reduce the need for another luminous layer.

Makeup for dehydrated skin

Use less powder, avoid over-prepping, and consider a hydrating primer or balm only on dry areas. Too many rich layers can make foundation slide.
